What We Believe

Eight principles. Each one is a decision rule.

If a feature fails the test, it doesn’t ship. These are not posters for a wall — they are the argument we have internally about what belongs in the product.

  • 01Aviators, not administrators

The product exists so that people who were trained to fly can spend their day flying. Time returned to the aircrew is the only score that matters.

TestDoes this give someone an hour back?

  • 02No training required

If it needs a manual, we built it wrong. A JO should sit down cold and be useful inside five minutes. Approachable and straightforward, in a domain where software usually isn’t.

TestCould someone use this with no brief?

  • 03One source of truth

Change it once, it changes everywhere. No parallel spreadsheets, no shadow trackers, no reconciling three versions of the same schedule. Everything is connected because in the squadron it already is.

TestDid this create a second place to look?

  • 04Rigid where the Navy is. Flexible where you are.

The hard rules come from NATOPS, CNAF M-3710.7, T/M/S manuals and safety instructions. Those are not negotiable. Everything else — how your squadron writes a schedule, how your syllabus sequences — is yours to configure.

TestAre we enforcing a Navy rule, or somebody’s local preference?

  • 05Catch it before it bites

The system surfaces the conflict while it is still cheap to fix. Nobody who isn’t qualified ends up on the schedule — not because someone caught it, but because the system wouldn’t allow it.

TestWould this have caught it on Monday?

  • 06Answer the question that hasn’t been asked yet

A system of record tells you what is. A useful system tells you what happens next. Stress-test the plan, forecast the pipeline, model the disruption — before it arrives, not after.

TestCan a Department Head get an answer without rebuilding the plan?

  • 07The safe call should be the easy call

When replacing a crewmember is a painful scramble, there is quiet pressure not to call IMSAFE. Making the swap instant removes that pressure. Safety isn’t a feature we bolt on — it is what happens when the right decision stops being the inconvenient one.

TestDoes this make it easier to do the safe thing?

  • 08Readiness is the point

Tidier admin isn’t the goal. Hours, planning and manpower converted into a squadron that can fight is the goal. Efficiency is the method; lethality is the outcome.

TestDoes this make the squadron more ready?

See it against your squadron’s schedule.
